I be illin.

So. The diagnosis is in..... The reason I have had such a hard time putting a thought together....getting out of bed.... taking care of business..... is: I have Mono - mononucleosis to be exact. The thing is, we thought the reason for my illin was going to be a lot worse. A LOT worse. The initial blood tests were ominous. As well were my symptoms as a whole. Totally un-typical-mono like. But in the end, that's exactly what it is. Hallelujah. To make matters more interesting, I had mono in high school. I should have had immunity. Plus I am an adult. Adults don't normally get mono. And added to that is that no one in my family has had this. Triple Argh. But at least I know what is wrong and how to get better - REST. And a lot of it. Fluids too. And eating is good. (I've lost almost 15 pounds in 12 days. I do have some extra junk in my trunk, so I promise I won't TOTALLY waste away, but this is not the diet of champions...) If you're wondering what that cute purple guy is - they make these stuffed animals that look like germs -and that's what mono looks like. Almost cute. But actually, a nasty little bugger if you ask me. So. Fabric Bliss will continue to be shipping just a few times a week until I feel better. But I promise that as soon as I have the energy, we will be back to business as usual! xo.

The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business

So. The last time I was in L.A. I stayed with my dear friend, Nancy. Her darling daughter gave up the Annatorium (her room) just for me to stay in. (she is the CUTEST and sweetest little girl I have ever met. Seriously.) We spent one whole day on the beach, swimming a little bit, but mostly sitting on the beach, enjoying the cool breeze, watching her kiddos play in the surf and sand and chatting about life (and fabric. Of course, fabric.) Somehow, our conversation meandered to discussing this German children's book she loved about a mole and some mystery poop. I was intrigued and I laughed and I needed to see this book in person. I got a terrible sunburn that day (forgot to apply sunscreen to my back. D'oh!) and so I went to bed shortly after we got home. In the middle of the night, I was ON FIRE. You that have had severe sunburns will know what I mean. I was sweaty and in pain and could not (even on my stomache) cool down or get comfy. I grabbed a book in the dark of the night from Miss A's bookshelf and fanned myself for a while to cool down so I could get back to sleep. Imagine my surprise when I awoke the next morning to said fan/book (laying on the floor- didn't get up to put it back) and a picture of a mole with poop on his head.... I had managed to grab THE book in the middle of the night. Out of hundreds, I picked THE book we had just been talking about. Weird. Anyhoo. So, guess what arrived in my mail today?

The book. THANK YOU, NANCY! My kids laughed and read and re-read it for at least AN HOUR! Buy it here if your family is obsessed and goofy about poop as we all are :)

my life is a balancing act.

Woah. Is it really July 9th? Time flies, yo? There is much to share and talk about, as always. First and foremost, is there ANYTHING more wonderful than the sight of the man that you love making pj pants for your 6 year old daughter? Especially when the project was his idea?! And that he was WAY good at sewing?! And not at ALL annoying to teach?! I think not. I really lucked out in the husband department. Not to sound TOO braggy. (sorry)

Ok. Now that my bragbrag is out of the way, I can move onto other things.... I had a WONDERFUL birthday (thank you to everyone for the bday wishes!) and we had a really nice time on the 4th. We went to Prescott (which = cool air = HEAVEN) for the weekend and had a BLAST. It was rainy part of the time and wonderful. On Friday, we went to a Pioneer Days festival. It all started with a hay-ride shuttle.

My (MUCH OLDER) sister and my darling niece bought water guns and immediately were transformed into Jenny's Angels.

Piper was a DARE DEVIL on the bungy thingamajig. I nearly had a heart attack.

The kids had so much fun on the water rides!

O.k. Did it really look like ANY of them were having fun?!

And then the blue sky got eaten up by thunderstorm clouds.

And it started raining. HARD. So it cut the day short :(
We did get to go watch fireworks later that night. I was too tired for pictures :)

Saturday we went to Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff. Again, it was nice and COOL.

The whole visit made me feel small. Insignificant. Almost purposeless. But only almost. The idea of the infinite amount of space out in our universe is almost too much for my wee brain to comprehend. But the kids had a great time. Honestly, we could have just sat in the car with the windows down and counted dadfarts in the parking lot and I think the kids would have been ok. They were just REALLY HAPPY to be out of the 110 degree heat of the Valley of the Sun.

So. was. i.
